Beat those Monday Blue’s

Everything feeling a bit long, slow, maybe even the days dragging since Christmas? with the cold weather and dark gloomy days. Could you be feeling the effects of blue Monday?

What is Blue Monday?

Blue Monday falls on the Monday 17th January this year and its said to be the most depressing day of the year. So this is apparently the time when we feel the most depressed about the debt we’re in after spending so much at Christmas. The days/nights getting much darker and colder. The long stretch till the next payday. Going back to work after that Christmas break when you don’t know what day of the week it is until BAM…Its Sunday night and your back to work tomorrow and the kids are back at school and you feel like you lost a few days of your life. Some people believe that this day is a load of nonsense as we feel like this a lot sooner than the 3rd week in January (which I have to agree with) Anyway no doom and gloom here, I believe that we can feel blue at anytime of the year but maybe more so at the start of a new Year. What I will say if you are feeling very down and depressed then please do seek advice like from the Samaritans.

The Samaritans are actually doing a campaign to combat “Blue Monday” and change it to “Brew Monday”. “ So we say it's time to stop this myth about Monday being 'blue' and instead start a conversation over a brew! Reach out and connect with family, friends, colleagues and loved ones”. BREW MONDAY

Here are a few tips to avoid or beat the blue’s:

Me Time

Have some me time and spend it doing some home pampering or better still get a friend to join you. Why not get our FREE eBook “The Ultimate Mini Retreat”

Essential Oils

Use some essential oils, they can really help to lift the mood. If you don’t have an electric diffuser, then use a candle burner or even just a few drops of essential oil on a tissue, that you can inhale occasionally.

Here are a few I would recommend: Frankincense, Sandalwood, Lavender, Cedarwood, any of the citrus blends e.g. Lemon, orange as they are uplifting and energising.

Its good to talk

Talk to someone, even if it can’t be in person. I think we all are used to virtual calls by now. (ZOOM)

Have Fun

Do something you are good at and enjoy. Just relax in to it and you will very quickly feel better and a change in your mood.

Most important take it easy on yourself!
